I think matching wooden control knobs will look great on this build. Here I'm using a large plug cutter to first cut the outer profile of the knobs. I only need 2, but there's room for 6 so I might as well make a few extras.
The next step is to cut a shallow recess that will hide the nut that holds the control pot in place. After that I drill the final hole that slides over the shaft of the pot.
Here they are after snapping them free from the block of wood. The ends that will be the top of the knob are a little ragged, so they need to be squared up against a sander.
I cut the head off of a bolt that threads snugly in place and tighten it in the chuck of the drill press. Once it's spinning, lightly holding some sandpaper up against the knob is all it takes to clean it up.
