I've sketched out where the belly carve will be. I've also drawn in the location of the nearby chambered area so I don't cut into it!





After a little work with a grinder, we have a rough belly carve. A grinder is not the most delicate tool for the job, but with a little practice you get the hang of it. I like the way it revealed the rings in the walnut!





Here it is after cleaning things up a bit with a scraper.





Taking a little off the back of the heel makes it much more comfortable to get at the higher frets. I like to connect the low points of the two cut-aways to create a pleasing look to the heel carve.
