This is the final result after lots (and I mean lots) of hand sanding, I've wiped it down with mineral spirits to pull all of the sanding dust out and also to give an idea of what the book matched quilted maple top will look like in terms of depth once it has a finish applied.

I've also drilled the bridge stud holes and 3 small holes to locate the controls (volume, tone, pickup selector switch).

All of the edges were rounded over by hand with sandpaper.

The transition areas where the belly carve meets the back and side is also smoothed by hand with sandpaper.
