Before I glue the fretboard on, I have to take care of a few things that are easier to do before it goes on. Tuner holes are up first.
Next I need to thin the headstock from 0.75" to about 0.6". For that, I need this embarassingly ugly jig that I slapped together. Every time I use it I swear I am going to build a proper version, but I never seem to get around to it.
Note the high tech adjustment fine tuners :)
The jig holds the neck in place, but the headstock is also stuck down with double sided tape. He who has GOOD double sided tape can rule the world! (no, really).
Now that the neck is held in place, we need a little router magic to thin the headstock. This is a simple sled that the router attaches to once I remove the baseplate.
I found a great router bit intended for use hollowing out wooden bowls believe it or not.
Done! I left some meat for a volute of some kind, but that will come later.
