Before the fretboard is glued in place, it needs to be radiused. Actually, it can also be done after its glued, but if you make a mistake you would need to steam the board off to start over (not fun). To radius the board, I built this wonderous bit of voodoo. It was based loosely on a similar jig I saw photos of. The thing on the left is a bed that you attach the fretboard to with double sided tape. It then slips snugly onto the track in the middle of the jig and slides back and forth under the router.





Here you can see the bed in place, and to the left is the rocker sled for the router.





Here's the whole enchilada ready to roll.





I make one pass up the center, and 4 on each side. Here you can (sort of) see the left side is complete. I'm using the same bowl cutting router bit as I did to thin the headstock.





I should really add a dust collector to this thing!
