These are just a couple of quick pictures to show the first korina Jupiters in the paint booth. One piece bodies and that classic 50′s korina amber are going to look fantastic on these!

Ranchero necks

Here are a few Ranchero necks in progress. The back profile has been roughly shaped, tuner holes drilled and the truss rod slot routed. These are ready for truss rods and then it’s time to glue on the fretboard.

You may notice that these are not figured necks. That’s because I have something special planned. This year marks the 10th year since I first built what I would later name my Ranchero model. To celebrate this achievment, I have something special planned and that something calls for plain flat and also quarter-sawn maple necks. Stay tuned…

Introducing the Potvin Jupiter!

I’ve always loved the holy trinity of Gibson 50′s wackyness: the Flying V, the Explorer and the Moderne. Maybe it’s the retro yet space-age design, or possibly it’s the korina from which they’re made… I’m not sure. It’s what lead me to do the korina version of my Mercury model which I imagined as the missing fourth member of the family. If you study these three guitars and their history you’ll know that one of them (the Explorer) had an earlier incarnation known as the Futura. No one knows if the Futura ever really existed, or why it morphed into the Explorer we know today.

With the assistance of some very talented friends (I’ll post more on their involvement later) I am very pleased to present my take on the mythic classic from the past.

Potvin Jupiter Intro Video

Here’s the first video introducing my new Jupiter model. The Jupiter was really a labour of love combining my passion for vintage style guitars and working with others that share that passion. The Jupiter is the first model where I’ve worked with Josh Grove of Protocaster Guitars to offer an aged finish and I could not be happier with the results.

Super Bee GT (Gold Top)

This Super Bee is sporting a classic gold top finish. The maple top has cream binding and the mahogany back has a satin finish. The neck is rosewood with a rosewood fretboard. Pickups are a custom wound Heavy Air in the bridge position and and a Lollar P90 in the neck.
