The Road to the 2015 Holy Grail Guitar Show
My trip to the Holy Grail Guitar Show in October already seems like a distant memory, but it was another fantastic visit to Berlin! I didn't have Mrs Potvin Guitars with me on this trip so the photos are all by yours truly (go easy, I'm a guitar builder not a photographer).
Getting to the show is an adventure of it's own, but the Guitar Maker's Alliance of Awesome Guys (tm) would revoke my membership card if I posted all the pictures. Let's just say that the four of us travelling together through airports looked like an advertisement for MONO gig bags (are you listening MONO?).
Although the Holy Grail Guitar Show was the main focus of the trip, there's so much to see and do in Berlin. This year we extended our stay to help fight the jetlag and also actually see a little more of the sights. We stayed at the same hotel and this was our view as we stepped out of the lobby each morning and returned in the evening. (Click the images to get the full view)
Public transportation is fantastic in Berlin (even when you're dragging a suitcase and a double gig bag). We did a lot of walking, but we mostly took the train everywhere. I mean, everywhere.
The show was quite busy and as always we talked to a lot of old friends and also made a lot of new friends. Our show pieces were a nice Super Bee 426 (loaded with three P90s) and something new out of the Potvin Guitars skunkworks. We met a lot of Super Bee fans, but I'm really excited to say that the (as yet un-named) Mastery bridge equipped offset guitar was a huge hit with the crowd! Bruno spent most of the day demoing it in the amp rooms. I'll talk more on this design and my plans for it in a future post.
I was also happy to see how many people really loved the Potvin Guitars t-shirt design. They really understood the vibe that all my work has and thought the t-shirt really reflected that.
We chatted with Mats Nermark, who wrote a very in depth report on the show which you can read by clicking here. The report is filled with amazing pictures featuring work from many of the incredible builders at the show. Mats included a couple of shots from my table, and this great shot of Bruno (right) and myself (left) doing our best show-pose in front of the table. Thanks Mats!
All in all, it was another great trip. Until we met again Berlin... Danke!
